Himalayan Sessions is a CD featuring a tour de force of award winning inspirational musicians and teachers that span the world. It features music recorded on location in Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan with local musicians mixed together with Award winning Paul Horn, Keola Beamer and Christopher Hedge.The album also features Nobel Prize winner His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lamasharing his wisdom and words on four uplifting songs. The music is a result of years of recordings, starting in 1991 with Tom Vendetti’s documentary films that have been featured on PBS and around the world. The album authentically taps into the spirit of the Tibetan culture, people; expressed in compassionately, honoring their struggle for cultural reunification and free access to their homeland.
Emmy nominated Tom Vendetti remembered how the project began, “Keola Beamer and I discussed a couple years ago, how we can spread “Aloha” around the world. He and teachers from the Aloha Music Camp taught 40 poverty-stricken children living in Cambodia how to play the instrument. It brought much joy to their lives. They are now performing concerts in Siem Reap, Cambodia. We want to continue this effort and share the Aloha spirit in Myanmar and other places around the world.”
The CD features the late world-renowned flautist Paul Horn, who is known as the father of New Age music, Horn, who died in 2014 at the age of 84, was a well-known jazz artist who recorded with many legends including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Duke Ellington and Nat King Cole.
Woven into the music are selected inspirational words by Nobel Peace Prize Award winning, His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama.
Hawaiian music icon and Grammy nominated and Emmy award winning Keola Beamer worked with Nepalese musicians to create a unique sound that expresses the language of the soul. Keolais a Hawaiian legend: singer-songwriter, composer, guitar master, with an impeccable, style that is featured on The Descendants soundtrack and his 17 CDs. He recently was invited to play with the legendary Paul Simon in concert.
Grammy-nominated musician Christopher Hedge mixed and mastered the project. Christopher Hedge has worked with world respected artists such s Chico Freeman and David Grisman to his collaborations with Congolese master drummer Titos Sompa, flautist R. Carlos Nakai, the Kronos Quartet and rock legend Neil Young, Hedge has incorporated musical forms from North and South America, Africa, Europe and Asia. He was awarded two Emmys for the soundtrack to “Bhutan: Taking the Middle Path to Happiness.”

Christopher Hedge reflected, “Keola Beamer’s deep respect and Beginners Mind, made it possible to collaborate with the Nepalese musicians who use different instruments, rhythms
and keys and understand each other and communicate with their music.”
Tom was motivated to share his interviews with The Dalai Lama, he recalled “His Holiness the Dalai Lama asked me to share his words to help educate the young Chinese students about the reality of the Tibet – China situation.”

Aloha Music Camp is a week-long immersion into the music, dance, and culture of Hawaiʻi
and providing ukulele's to third world countries. Aloha Music Camp was started in 2001 and has been a project of the non-profit Mohala Hou Foundation since the latter was established in September 2007 to support and promote the teaching and sharing of Hawaiian music, dance, language, and culture.
